Heather Nyberg

I grew up in Port Moody and continue to live in the area with my family. I am a mom of three children who enjoys playing soccer, watching my kids’ sports games, walking my Vizsla “Otto” on the Coquitlam Crunch or enjoying a cup of coffee at a local cafe. I struggled with anxiety after having my children and the support of a counsellor was life changing for me. It was not only extremely helpful for getting me back on track, it also led me to my career as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).

There are times in life when things become too overwhelming to face alone. As an RCC, I work with clients who need space to process their thoughts and feelings, explore new ways of thinking and examine unhealthy cycles and patterns in their lives. Taking the time to examine one’s own strengths and utilizing them to their full potential is the key to growth and personal fulfillment. I work alongside clients and guide them through sessions to help develop increased self-awareness and new insight. Through building a relationship of trust and mutual respect, I provide an emphatic ear and give clients the time and space they need to heal.

Beginning a counselling journey can be a daunting undertaking but finding the right therapist is a huge step towards experiencing positive change.  I provide a non-judgemental approach that includes active listening, guided therapy and a little laughter for levity.

As an RCC, my areas of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Trauma therapy and EMDR

  • ADHD, adult diagnosis and parenting neurodivergent children

  • Anxiety and Depression

  • Grief

  • Difficult life transitions; pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, separations

I am available for in person or virtual counselling sessions during regular hours;

  •  Tuesdays   10:00am-8:00pm

  •  Thursdays  10:00am-4:00pm
