Tara Moen

Hi, I’m Tara.

I am a Registered Professional Counsellor and Certified Divorce and Co-Parenting Coach with a background in Early Childhood Development. My path into counselling was shaped by my own lived experiences. After years working with children and later staying home to raise my own, I went through a difficult divorce that profoundly changed my life. During that time, therapy became a lifeline—helping me find clarity, build resilience, and reconnect with a deeper sense of purpose.

As I navigated life as a single mother and co-parent, I realized how isolating and overwhelming life transitions can feel. I also saw how powerful it is to have someone truly listen and support you without judgment. That insight inspired me to return to school and dedicate myself to helping others move through life’s challenges with strength and self compassion.

In my practice, I bring a calm and empathetic presence. My approach is client-centered, solution-focused, and trauma-informed. I believe in meeting people exactly where they are, and creating a space where they feel safe, seen, and supported. Whether you’re working through a specific issue or simply looking to prioritize your mental health, therapy can help you gain clarity, shift old patterns, and move forward with greater confidence.

I support individuals and couples in areas such as:

  • Navigating separation, divorce, and co-parenting.

  • Recovering from narcissistic abuse or emotionally toxic relationships.

  • Managing stress, burnout, anxiety, and depression—especially related to work, parenting, or major life transitions.

  • Coping with the emotional and physical changes that come with perimenopause and menopause.

Outside of the counselling space, I spend as much time as I can outdoors— paddleboarding, hiking, or walking with my dogs. Being near water brings me a sense of calm and perspective. I often reflect on how rivers respond to obstacles—not by stopping, but by flowing around them and finding new paths. That image reminds me of the strength and resilience we all carry, even in times of uncertainty.

It is never too late to start again, care for your mental health, or take the first step toward meaningful change. Sometimes, just talking things through can make all the difference. I’d be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey.
