Kirsten Sherlock
Hello and welcome! I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Canadian Certified Counsellor, and the co-founder of Cove Counselling & Co.
I support individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, stress, burnout, low self-worth, and other life transitions or struggles. My approach is rooted in the belief that while we can’t change the past, we can transform how it lives within us. Healing is possible—and I’m here to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your voice, your values, and your power.
My practice is shaped by a trauma-informed lens and grounded in client-centered, collaborative, and strength-based values. I draw on a variety of approaches including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to meet each person’s unique needs and goals. I also have specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy, which allow for deeper healing through processing trauma and strengthening the mind-body connection.
In session, I offer a calm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can safely explore your story. Clients often describe me as warm, grounded, and genuine—someone who is genuinely invested in their healing and growth. I’m known for bringing humour into the process when it fits, because laughter can be a surprisingly powerful tool in our healing journey.
My own path into this work was shaped by personal experience with intergenerational trauma and a cultural narrative that said emotions should be hidden away. But eventually, I realized that those strategies were no longer serving me—they were impacting me not just mentally and emotionally, but physically and spiritually. My healing journey became about breaking those patterns, finding new ways of being, and reconnecting with myself—and that transformation continues to inspire the work I do with others.
Outside of counselling, I find joy and balance in the little things—reading a great book, walking in nature, and making space for mindfulness and gratitude.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle (Vancouver campus) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC #14040) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA #13550).
I offer 1:1 private counselling for individual adults (in person, online, or by phone) and online workshops designed to help people step into their personal power and embrace a life that feels aligned and authentic. I also offer online webinars for support for parents of neurodiverse children, and healing spaces for women and assigned female at birth who have experienced unexpected childlessness.
