Jessa Turner

Hi, I’m Jessa!

Life is a journey, filled with challenges, transitions, and moments that invite reflection, growth, and healing. My path to becoming a counsellor began 36 years ago, when I first experienced years of being a client and felt the profound, positive impact of counselling. At a young age, I also experienced the loss of a close family member to suicide—an experience that exposed me early to the mental health system, its complexities, and the deep need for compassionate, accessible support. These experiences stayed with me and ultimately led me much later in life to pursue my path as a counsellor, I now have my MPCC-Provisional as a counsellor (Master Practitioner Clinical Counsellor – provisional).

Today, I bring 36 years of combined lived experience and professional experience in various areas of the mental health system to support clients in navigating life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and practical guidance.

I help clients navigate the challenges life brings and has brought, supporting them to become more in tune with their true selves and reduce the heaviness that life has left over the years. Some of the things I work with include:

  • Anxiety & depression

  • Grief and loss

  • I support LGBTQ+ youth and young adults in a safe and inclusive space

  • Family Conflict

  • Stress & burnout

  • Women's Issues

  • Overthinking and

  • Family, Parenting and Relationship challenges

  • Domestic violence

My approach is integrative and empathetic. I meet clients where they are, honor their experiences, and support them in discovering the strategies, insights, and coping skills that will help them move toward the life they want. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness to tailor sessions to each client’s unique needs. Together, we work toward increased resilience, clarity, and balance.

I am a mom to three young adults and a long-time resident of Coquitlam, and I understand firsthand the complexities of balancing life, family, and personal growth.

In-person sessions are available at my Coquitlam office, centrally located in Austin Heights. Virtual counselling sessions are also offered for your convenience. I have openings on weekdays, with some evening and weekend slots available to accommodate your schedule.
